The West Virginia Shakespeare and Renaissance Association (WEVSARA)
announces a Call for Papers for its annual meeting, April 6-7, 2001, at
the Embassy Suites in Charleston, WV, USA.  The conference theme is "New
Approaches to Elizabethan and Seventeenth Century British Literature."
Papers (20-25 minutes) and suggestions for panels are welcome on any topic
from the period 1500-1660, from all disciplines and critical approaches.
Panels which are already being formed include (but are not limited to):
Shakespeare on and in film; the Renaissance erotic; early modern
Orientalism; and returning to characterization.   Please submit abstracts
(250 words maximum for papers or 500 words, names of possible
participants, for panels) to:

Deadline for submissions is Feb. 15, 2001.  papers presented at the
conference may be considered for publication in SRASP, the Shakespeare and
Renaissance Association Selected Papers, a refereed journal now in its
twenthy-third year of publication and third year as an electronic journal.
The conference is jointly sponsored by the English departments or West
Virginia University, Marshall University and a consortium of West Virginia
colleges and universities.
