CFP: Political Identities in Britain and Western Europe, 1200-1500
Location: United Kingdom
Call for Papers Deadline: 2000-11-15

The aim of the conference is to explore concepts of political identity on
local, national and international levels. We will be examining the impact
of such ideas on the conduct of practical politics, diplomacy and warfare,
as well as in the more abstract fields of political thought and
literature, and the inter-relationship between theory and practice. We
particularly hope to encourage discussion between those with interest in
continental Western Europe and in the British Isles.

The Conference will take place at Hatfield College, University of Durham,
on 28-29 August, 2001 (details to be finalised). The organizers are
seeking participants and proposals from both established scholars and
current postgraduates.

The deadline for proposals for titles, preferably with a brief synopsis,
is November 15, 2000. All enquiries should be addressed via email or
normal mail to Christopher Candy. A sample flyer and further details as
they are available will be accessible at our website.
