CALL FOR PAPERS

"Training the Reader in Early-Modern Europe"

Panel Proposal for: MLA 2004, Philadelphia PA

Early-Modern European authors often sought to influence a particular
reader response to their work through a variety of reader-training
strategies-- including the use of prefaces, narrative digressions,
and generic hybridization. We seek papers that investigate the
mechanics and potential cultural implications of this publication
strategy.

Please send your 250 word abstract by March 15, 2004 to
"astedman@bucknell.edu."
