• 1962:
  Born in Ludwigshafen/Rh. (Palatinate)
• 1968 to 1981:
  Went to schools
• 1981 to 1982:
  Studied biology (Munich)
• 1982 to 1988:
  Studied philosophy, catholic theology and medieval history (Munich and London plus some weeks at Florence)
• 1982 to 1988: Worked part-time as auxillary programmer for "Generalverwaltung" (Administrative Headquarters) of Max-Planck-Society and as a freelance programmer
• 1988: M.A. (Munich; title of thesis: "Die Erkenntnistheorie des Averroes im Kontext seines philosophischen Systems" (Averroes' epistomology in the context of his philosophical system))
• 1988 to 1992:
  Postgraduate studies (spent most of the time at Venice and Padua though enrolled at Munich university)
• 1992: Dr. phil. (Munich; title of thesis: "Venetischer Aristotelismus im Ende der aristotelischen Welt. Aspekte der Welt und des Denkens des Cesare Cremonini (1550-1631)"("Venetian Aristotelianism in the end of the Aristotelian world. Aspects of Cesare Cremonini's (1550-1631) world and thought" viz.
